In the past few months, a lot of partnerships and acquisitions between providers have been announced. We’ve talked about Future Anthem and Gamesys which came up with a new initiative, and about three game providers that expanded across Europe. As it seems, the partnerships won’t stop there, as we have another announcement to make in this article.
Namely, Flutter Entertainment, a company created by the merger of Paddy Power and Betfair, has acquired Tombola for an enterprise value of £402m. Tombola is one of the UK biggest bingo companies, with headquarters in Sunderland.
The acquisition will finish in the first quarter of 2022
It’s official: Flutter Entertainment will acquire Tombola, one of the UK market’s leading bingo operators. The acquisition has an enterprise value of £402m ($542.90m).
Under the agreement, Flutter will pay £402m in cash upon completion for 100% of the business. The transaction will be approved by the UK Competition and Markets Authority. It’s expected that the acquisition will be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
Flutter explained that the addition of Tombola to its portfolio will deliver a wide range of strategic advantages. This includes the diversification of its products, the addition of an engaged and sustainable player base, and the addition of further product capabilities.
Peter Jackson, Flutter's chief executive, commented: “As the world’s leading online gambling operator, Flutter is delighted to add Tombola, the UK’s premier bingo brand to the Group. Tombola is a business we have long admired for its product expertise, highly recreational customer base and focus on sustainable play.”
“The brand aligns closely with Flutter’s safer gambling strategy, a key area of focus for us. I am excited to combine Flutter’s digital marketing expertise with Tombola’s operational capabilities within the UK & Ireland division.”
