About a month ago, it was announced that seven betting companies in Colorado will receive their sports betting licences. Therefore, sports bettors are looking forward to May 1st when it is expected Colorado’s sportsbooks to start operating. There were a couple of companies that applied for a master licence, but only seven of them were approved. However, Colorado sports fans will have a couple of more options where they can place their bets, as three new sportsbooks were approved to receive the sports betting licence.

The Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission (LGCC) has just approved three new gambling operators for receiving the master licence after having issued seven licences in February. As in the other states across the US, sportsbooks in Colorado are required to make sure that their operations are restricted to in-state customers. This is possible through geofencing, a practice created to block the Internet traffic that comes from other states. GeoComply is the company that specialises in geofencing and operates in 44 states, so it is ready to operate with Colorado after the approval by the LGCC.

Two William Hill properties will receive licences

The Isle of Capri and Lady Luck, as well as the Roar Digital, are to receive Temporary Sports Betting Operator Licences. These two companies are William Hill properties and will also be included in virtual sportsbooks since the LGCC has handed them the Temporary Internet Sports Betting Operator Licences.

Another company that received a licence is Century Casinos. As it was announced last Friday, the subsidiaries of Century Casinos have been approved to receive three Sports Betting Master Licences. The company added that it has two more master licences in Colorado and is in active negotiations with a couple of potential sports betting partners. In addition, Circa Sports Colorado LLC, with whom the Century Casinos is partnered for a Master Licence, was approved for a Temporary Internet Sports Betting Operator Licence.

Additionally, the LGCC had a meeting last Thursday to discuss the licence applications and announced that four casinos in Black Haws received Master Licences. Moreover, the commission issued the same licences to companies that operate Johnny Nolon’s Casino and the Colorado Grande Hotel and Casino.

Washington sports betting platform got a name

Last week, we reported that even if sports betting has finally become legalised in Washington, its launch will be delayed. However, the Washington sports betting platform got a name and will be called GambetDC. According to the D.C. Office of Lottery and Gaming website, the GambetDC platform will be launched when it’s safe for the sports world to return.

The GambetDC platform is ready to start, according to Nicole Jordan, spokeswoman for the Lottery. As she explained, the Lottery will focus on developing iLottery that will enable more revenue for the District’s General Fund.

As we already mentioned, the sports betting in Washington will be available through a mobile app and a website. These platforms are operated by Intralot, they have been tested and are ready to go live. When GambetDC is live, players in Washington will be able to register online and choose from different sports, leagues and games, as well as from a variety of betting types.
