Design, Symbols, and Graphics

The Gangsterz slot has a colourful theme. The main symbols are dinosaurs who rob a city bank. They do so through the bonus wild symbols that they use to explode and crack the safe. There are flashy colours and exciting music when you trigger a cascading win. 

There are 8 game symbols in the Gangsterz slot. The low-paying symbols are the egg symbols with dollar signs, crosshairs, police badges, and locks. Higher paying symbols include four dinosaur symbols representing gangsters and cops.

Gameplay and Features on Gangsterz Slot

Regarding gameplay, the Gangsterz slot has a so-called Refills feature, just another name for the Cascades. Winning symbols explode on the reels, and new symbols take their spots. That can lead to more wins as long as five identical symbols land in a cluster. 

Next to the reels is a Progress Bar resembling a safe, ticking down from 100. Each winning symbol ticks it down by one point, and there are special effects for every 25 winning symbols: Detonation, Reduction, Separation, and Promotion. I will explain more about all that below. 

Cascade Wins 

Cascading wins mean that when you form a winning combo, winning symbols explode, and new symbols land on those empty spaces. 

Big Boss

When you land four identical symbols in a square, you will receive a 2x2 symbol. If this is part of a winning combination, the value of your bet doubles. 

Backlit Symbols

After each spin, random matching low-paying symbols will glow. If they are part of a winning combination, they will disappear, and two Wild Symbols will take their place.

Second Chance

On every non-winning spin, some random symbols can become Wild Symbols. 

Progress Bar

Here is the explanation of the random features you trigger after every 25 winning symbols. They are the following:

• Detonation - Three to six random symbols become Wilds, and these destroy four squares around them;
• Reduction - Low-paying symbols that were not part of the winning combination will get removed from the field;
• Separation - The Wild Symbol appears in the middle, and all other symbols in the diagonal turn into the identical randomly chosen symbol;
• Promotion - A random symbol turns all of its copies into equal values;
• Safe - Players can trigger this feature when the progress bar reaches zero. Then, a 3x3 Wild Symbol appears on the reels, and after the second spin, this symbol will split into two 2x2 Wilds.

Our Verdict 

Gangsterz is an entertaining slot with a friendly cluster payout system. The cascade mechanics are good, but I couldn’t find out what dinosaurs have in common with gangsters. 

BGaming chose a strange theme and symbols for a “gangster” slot, but the 12,000x maximum payout will erase doubts to many. Some of the mini bonus features were exciting but nothing special. Overall, the Gangsterz slot is dynamic but is missing a feature or two to be a complete package.
