Following The Border, Pearl Harbor is Nolimit City’s second cluster game. It’s also the second war-themed slot coming out from this provider, after the popular Das xBoot slot. As its title suggests, the Pearl Harbor slot tells the story of the historic war at Pearl Harbor.
The attack on Pearl Harbor happened in O’ahu, Hawaii in 1941, when the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service attacked the United States Air Force and drew it into World War 2. Apart from telling this story, the Pearl Harbor slot can also pay up to an incredible 41,127x the stake, thanks to its innovative and brilliant features, which I’ll explore below. Enjoy!
About Pearl Harbor Slot
Pearl Harbor is a cascading online slot that plays across 7 reels and 7 rows. The game doesn’t have fixed paylines; instead, it uses the cluster pays mechanic. In other words, to win in the Pearl Harbor slot, you have to land at least 5 matching symbols horizontally or vertically adjacent to each other.
What’s more, when you form a winning cluster, the game will remove the winning symbols, allowing you to benefit from new ones and form another win! It’s fantastic how the Pearl Harbor slot gives you a chance to win more times in a single spin.
I’ve talked way more about winning in this game - but before you get closer to winning, you have to know how to start playing this slot. It’s simple, actually; all you have to do is to place your bets and press the spin button. The Pearl Harbor slot accepts bets that range from £0.20 to £100 per spin.
If you’ve ever tried other Nolimit City slots, you’ll know that they boast fantastic features and in-game mechanics. Well, Pearl Harbor is no exception! This slot’s base game revolves around Nolimit City’s new mechanic, xSize. Apart from that, you’ll also benefit from other Nolimit mechanics, such as xSplit, xBet, and xBomb.
In total, you can win up to 41,127x the stake. Make sure to check the bonus features below and see how to win the biggest payouts!
Design, Symbols and Graphics
As I mentioned at the beginning of my Pearl Harbor Slot Review, the theme of this page is the historic battle on Pearl Harbor. The game’s reel set is designed as a cockpit, where a target shows only a 3x3 grid. During your spins, the 3x3 active positions can expand up to 7x7.
The Pearl Harbor slot has somewhat comic graphics, which are of the highest quality. A dramatic soundtrack sets the scene, providing you with a thrilling gaming experience. Overall, the game’s design is fantastic, as expected from a Nolimit City release.
The low-paying symbols are designed in a Japanese writing style and include the 10, J, Q, K and A royals. On the other hand, the high-paying symbols are designed as four military characters with different background colours: green, blue, orange, and yellow.
Furthermore, the Pearl Harbor slot has lots of special symbols that trigger different features. The Japanese flag is the scatter, while the symbol with two samurai swords is the xSPlit. The target symbol is the wild, and the black bomb is the xBomb symbol. You can learn more about these symbols in the bonus section below.
RTP, Variance and Payouts for Pearl Harbor Slot
The Pearl Harbor slot RTP (Return to Player) is set at an average value of 96.06%, which is great. It’s paired with a high volatility model, so you can potentially expect slightly less frequent yet proportionally more valuable rewards. On top of that, the maximum possible payout can reach up to 41,127x the stake.
You can read our thorough Variance, Volatility and RTP Guide to learn more about these technical terms and how they work.
Gameplay and Features on Pearl Harbor Slot
The Pearl Harbor slot has so many features that it can be challenging to understand all of them. For that reason, bear with me and carefully go through all features and in-game mechanics included in this gameplay!
Scatter Symbols
The Japanese flag is the scatter symbol in the Pearl Harbor slot. You can land only 1 scatter per reel, and the scatter only counts if it lands in an active game area. If a scatter is split, and you trigger a bonus feature, the scatter’s multiplier will become an xMultiplier.
xBet Banzai
You can activate the xBet Banzai and it’ll increase your bets by 50%, guaranteeing you one scatter in the active game area. It’ll also increase your chances of triggering the Dog Fight bonus by 3x.
There is also an option to increase your bets by 100%, where you’ll get 2 guaranteed scatters in the active area, while also increasing the chances of triggering the Tora! Tora! Tora! Feature by 10x.
xBomb Wild Multiplier
The symbol with a rocket and the name ‘WILD’ on it is the xBomb Wild Multiplier symbol. When this symbol lands in the active area, it’ll explode, blowing away up to 10 surrounding symbols. Moreover, if the xBomb symbol is on the border or in the corner of the area, it’ll increase the active area size.
If the xBomb Wild Multiplier symbol is split, it’ll give you a 2x multiplier for the first split, then a double multiplier for each following split. Furthermore, exploding xBomb symbols will increase the win multiplier for the next win by 1. Scatters and transformed wilds that are nat part of a win will not be blown away.
Target
The symbol with a target and the name ‘WILD’ on it is the Target symbol. When it lands, the active game area will expand to make the Target symbol part of the rectangle active area. When the Target symbol becomes part of the active game area, it’ll transform into a Wild symbol to help you form wins.
xSplit
The xSplit symbol lands in the spade of a samurai sword, and it splits all symbols in the direction of the sword’s handle. In addition, the xSplit symbols have either one or two swords that can point both horizontally and vertically, but only one direction per sword.
The xSplit symbols is only active when it’s inside the active game area. If it’s split, it’ll get another sword pointing in a new direction. If the symbol already has 4 swords, a split will add a 2x multiplier.
If an xSplit symbol has a multiplier when activated, all symbols it splits will get the multiplier. Scatters, target symbols and xBomb symbols get a 2x multiplier when hit by an xSplit symbol.
After the splitting, the xSplit symbol will become a wild symbol. This Wild will get a multiplier depending on the number of swords it has, multiplying your potential win.
Colossal Symbol
As you spin the reels of the Pearl Harbor slot, you’ll notice that colossal symbols of 2x2 or 3x3 size land. When a colossal symbol lands, it’ll expand the active area, becoming part of it. Despite its size, the colossal symbol will count as 1 in a cluster win. If a 3x3 cluster symbol is split, it’ll split into 3 symbols depending on the sword’s direction.
The second xSplit will split the colossal symbol in the other direction to a 3x3 symbol. Moreover, the third xSplit will split all 9 symbols in half, resulting in 18 symbols. Finally, the fourth xSplit will give a 2x multiplier to each symbol or multiply each individual multiplier with 2.
Dogfight Feature
To trigger the Dogfight feature, you need to land 3 scatter symbols on the same spin. The feature will start with 3 spins and play inside a fighter plane cockpit with an instrument panel of 18 dials.
The panel will start spinning, landing on either a + multiplier, an X multiplier, or nothing. If you win a multiplier, the number of spins will reset to 3. When multipliers land, they are active until they have added their values to the round multiplier.
All active + multipliers are first collected, and then they multiply all X multipliers before they add that amount to the round multiplier. The active X multipliers remain active until a + multiplier lands. If the bonus ends with active X multipliers, they’ll turn into + multipliers and sum up their value, adding it to the round multiplier.
By filling up the dials, a dog attack will be initiated. Then, all multipliers in the column become active. If the enemy plane is hit, the active multipliers are summed up in the same way as a normal bonus spin. If there are only X multipliers, they are multiplied together and added to the round multiplier. If the enemy plane is missed, nothing is added, and the next spin is initiated.
If all 18 instrument dials have been filled, a Kamikaze Attack will launch after the Dogfights. Then, a multiplier wheel with 10 possible multipliers (including misses) will spin as the aircraft is approaching a target ship. If the ship gets hit, the multiplier from the wheel will multiply with the total round multiplier from the bonus.
Tora! Tora! Tora! Feature
The Tora! Tora! Tora! Feature is triggered by landing 4 scatters on the same spin. The feature starts with 3 spins and plays inside a plane cockpit with an instrument panel of 18 dials. The Dogfight features are also included here, but with the additions of Midway Pop and Bomb Drop.
Midway Pop is activated when a multiplier lands on a dial in the mid row. The amount value pops up to the top row in the current column. If no value exists there from before, it’ll randomly get a + multiplier or an X multiplier independently of mid row multiplier type. If a value already exists on the top row, the mid row amount is added to the existing value, and multiplier type remains.
Bomb Drop is activated when a full row of instrument dials is filled. Then, a bomb hatch will open a ship, and a bomb will drop. If the ship gets hit, all + multipliers on that row will be added together and multiplied with all X multipliers on that row. If there are only X multipliers in the row, they are multiplied together and with 1 to get the sum to be added to the round multiplier.
If the ship is missed, nothing is added, and the next spin is initiated. If the spin initiating the Bomb Drop only had X multipliers, those multipliers remain active. Multiple Bomb drops are done in sequence from top to bottom. You can also initiate Dogfights before Bomb Drop.
