Play'n Go is one of those slot providers that has managed to focus on quality and quantity and has done a fantastic job with both. The games you can play are definitely among the better ones in the industry, and the fact that Play’n GO has become such a household name is only proof of that.
Since Play'n GO is one of our favourite slot providers, we hunted down its affiliate manager Edward Eklund to learn more about its releases. We talked about the legendary Book of Dead series, the collaboration with heavy metal bands, the best things about working there, and more. We also asked Edward what are the best Play'n GO slots that every player should try. So let's find out!
Welcome, Edward! We're so glad to have you in our exclusive interview series. Before we begin, could you introduce yourself and Play’n GO to our readers?
"My name is Edward Eklund and I work as an Affiliate Manager at Play’n GO. I started working in marketing in the gambling industry in 2013. It’s mostly been on the operator side but now I’m on the provider side making sure that Play’n GO’s message reaches affiliates as well as operators.
Play’n GO is one of the most well-known suppliers of online slots supplier there is with successes like the Book of Dead series and the Reactoonz series. The company was founded in 2005 and has staff on the ground in Sweden, Malta, UK, Hungary, the Philippines and a growing presence in the US too. The founders are still active in the company and have a clear vision which makes long-term planning much easier."
Responsible gaming is in Play’n GO’s DNA as we believe that sustainability benefits the players, the operators as well as the providers.
Play’n GO is one of the leading providers in the iGaming industry. What’s the best thing about working there?
"First of all, great people. My colleagues are hard-working and friendly. I joined fairly recently and felt at home instantly, thanks to an excellent onboarding process as well as genuinely good people.
It is also so fun to work with talented individuals who are dedicated to their craft and never settle for anything but excellence."
You’ve made some of the greatest slots of all time, like Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead and Reactoonz. How do you manage to come up with unique ideas and maintain your top position in such a competitive industry?
"We’re entertainers to our very core. Our dedication to detail means that every game gets 5-star treatment regardless of whether it’s a traditional 3x5 slot with classic mechanics or a narrative-driven grid slot with an abundance of innovative features.
This actually complements our drive to make sure that our portfolio has something for everyone. That’s really important to us."
How many games does Play’n GO release per month or per year?
"We regularly produce one game per week but sometimes we have a two-game week which is always really exciting. This seems a lot of games – which it is – but quantity doesn’t overcome quality in any of our titles.
We have clans dedicated to each individual game so that we can produce, develop and keep our quality to the highest standard no matter the frequency of titles we release."
Let’s talk about your newer games. Could you tell our readers more about the Derby Wheel slot?
"Derby Wheel is innovative, like really innovative in how it’s been produced from concept to creation – a super impressive title.
When the Horse Race feature is unlocked a 3D horse race takes place! The innovation in this game is something to be admired, although we know horse racing has been seen in the industry before, we can’t say it’s ever been seen like this."
And what about Legacy of Egypt? Could you give us a short introduction to the game and why we should play it?
"Legacy of Egypt is action-packed from the very first spin and that’s why it’s been entertaining players since its initial release in 2018. In fact, we’ve just given it a re-release with new marketing assets as it’s just so popular!
This is one of our Ancient Egypt-themed slots where players can discover the secrets of Cleopatra and the fortune of Anubis and with the Wheel of Gods and Pyramid Spins on the players’ side it’s a really great game for drumming up anticipation and potential.
There’s a reason players can’t get enough of it!"
We really like the Lordi Reel Monsters slot. What was it like collaborating with the famous heavy-metal band?
"So much fun! Considering their whole vibe is monster-rock, Mr Lordi is more friendly than frightening! It was great to work with such creative individuals who share the same dedication to detail that we do when it comes to what we produce – we're very similar in that sense."
Can you name the top 3 slots from Play’n GO that should be checked out by players who have never tried your games before?
"Well I think they should check them all out, but I’d say that Moon Princess 100 is a good one to start with, it’s one of our grid slots and the sequel to our popular 2017 release Moon Princess.
I’ve got to throw an Ancient Egypt-inspired title in there and Secret of Dead is one of the greats as it combines features from both Legacy of Dead and Scroll of Dead and continues the series narrative. Very cool.
Finally, rock fans will love Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness, which was inspired by Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness, not only does it feature the iconic song Welcome to My Nightmare, but players are also transported to the spooky worlds of Alice Cooper."
Could you give us a sneak peek of what’s coming next from Play’n GO?
"We have some great things coming up. For instance, we have a new game in the Merlin series called Merlin's Grimoire. It will be released this summer and focuses on the Symbol Splitting feature similar to other games in the Book of Dead style.
We also have Rotiki coming out this summer, a Fiji-themed game that is just beautifully built and changes the definition of what a grid slot is."
Thank you for your time! Is there anything you would like to share with us before we say goodbye?
"Thank you, it was my pleasure!
Make sure to check out the monthly themed games from Play’n GO that will be featured on different operators. Have fun and enjoy them responsibly!"
