Sports betting in Louisiana gets some green lights

Sports betting isn’t legal everywhere in the US. There are several states where it is approved, and lastly, we informed of FanDuel entering the Washington betting market. However, some states are in process of approving it or at least approving some kind of sports betting.

Thus, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board (LGCB) gave approval to FanDuel after anonymous voting to offer fantasy sports in the state. With that, Louisiana becomes the 47th US jurisdiction in which FanDuel’s fantasy services are available.

Besides DraftKings, FanDuel is becoming the second operator to offer fantasy sports betting in the Bayou State.

Fantasy Sports betting was legalised there in 2018 after an arduous implementation process following an overwhelming consensus from voters.

The restrictions regarding fantasy sports include several rules. The players must be at least 21 years old and the games are permitted only in parishes where voters authorised them.

Traditional sports betting, on the other hand, is still processing applications with the state’s regulator. Last November, 55 out of 64 parishes approved sports betting legalisation, though their decision has yet to come into effect.

Caesars sportsbook available in Louisiana before sports betting launch

Caesars Entertainment revealed that its sports betting app is already available for Louisiana bettors, even before the state’s launch of mobile sports betting. Louisiana regulators said that they hope to have rollout retail sports betting in November followed by mobile sports betting.

Eric Hession, Co-President of Caesars Digital, said:

"Louisiana and the entire Gulf Coast region are a special part of the Caesars family. We couldn't be more excited to build on our longstanding commitments in the state with the launch of legal sports betting."

"We know how passionate Bayou State sports fans are about their teams and we're confident our brand-new Caesars Sportsbook app and the exciting offers we have for launch can offer them a sports experience that can't be matched."

There will be some privileges for the early registrants of the Caesars Sportsbook. These can deposit funds and explore pre-match and live markets and odds. In addition, they will receive a $100 free bet bonus the day mobile wagering goes live.

Caesars will offer retail sports betting at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City, which are both in the process of rolling out temporary retail locations.
