Beat A World Record In Less Than 30 SecondsBeat A World Record In Less Than 30 Seconds

At some point, you've probably admired all those people who've undergone serious training or unbelievable extreme conditions to make a difference, set a milestone or popularly called- a personal record. Yes, from the fastest man on the planet to the longest grown moustaches ever-it's amazing what we can achieve if we have a purpose or motivation behind our idea. Having your name immortalised next to Elvis Presley or Michael Phelps does sound like a big deal, however-it's your drive and story that counts behind the motive.

Take for example George Hood, a 62-year-old former marine that this year broke the record for the longest time spent holding an abdominal plank…precisely, incredible 8 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds. With this fantastic and beyond-limits move, he wanted to raise awareness about the mental health issue, addressing the overall health improvement through exercising. That time is longer than the entire first season of The Witcher.

Logically, this move requires serious physical and mental preparation. We can talk about these amazing believe it or not events for hours, but now, we're here to talk about something relatable to all of us. Here, we'll discuss the world record moves that everyone can try to break while being on the low-impact side of the story. And by low impact, we mean the effort and cost needed to try and break some of them. The fun and motive are, by default, raised high on the bar!

If you're not able to cry diamond tears or perform pull-ups with your pinkies, worry not, because you don't need to be Tony Stark to call yourself a hero. You can set or break a world record even in your bedroom!

Our team worked on this creative project and classified the best WR you can try to break right now. From food eaters to underwear pullers-you'd find something suitable and challenging.

We’re not entirely clear on what was the inspiration behind this attempt but will probably know more about that once the temperature falls. This record is set back in October 2017 by Pavol Durdik from Slovakia. He managed to put on 28 socks on one foot. Pavol, we can say that there is no such thing as cold feet for you mate, great job!

Pavol also holds a number of other records. We interviewed him and here's his message for you:

"Everything can be overcome. It is important not to be afraid and start."

First, you’d ask yourself why? Secondly-why so in a rush? Well, a guy took a slightly different approach with this one. Imagine you are late for an important meeting and that you must not leave home without putting on…17 pairs of underpants?! Yes, Toshiaki Kasuga in late 2019 set this record, telling us that an extra pair of undies do make a difference in your appearance.

It is not surprising that we are starting with this challenge. There are few reasons for this. We all love burritos, and most of us have devoured one of this tasty Mexican delicacies rather fast. But nobody does it faster than Leah Shutkever.

And that’s the second and perhaps the most important reason why we begin our presentation with this record. Leah Shuktever is a rather remarkable person, she currently holds ten records and shows no intention of stopping there. We did an interview with Leah and she said some interesting things. Have a look!

Now, a bit more about the burrito challenge itself. There is a video of Leah completing this challenge. It’s quite impressive! If you think that you have what it takes to eat a burrito faster than 35.26 seconds, or at least come close to Leah’s record, it will cost you about £6, or the price of the average burrito. Just order your favourite burrito from the best Mexican place in your area and you won’t even need to leave your living room in order to try it out.

We interviewed Leah, and here's what she said: "The overriding message is to never put yourself in any kind of 'box' the only confines you have are the ones you set yourself, so if you want to change the world in some way, go do it".

Sure, it is easy to eat a lot of smarties fast. They’re small, you don’t even need to chew, it is not as challenging as eating a burrito in 35.26 seconds. Yes, but it is quite challenging when you try to eat them using chopsticks. And that’s precisely what Kathryn Retcliffe managed.

Mind you, she set this record back in 2011, so apparently it’s not that easy, otherwise someone would’ve broken her record by now. In this video, Kathryn explains how to eat smarties with chopsticks.

We did an exclusive interview with Kathryn where she shared some interesting insights on eating smarties with chopsticks and breaking records in general. Her message is simple:

"Practice little and often, don’t give up if you fail first time and most importantly, have fun!"

Pizza is a natural and understandable choice when it comes to fast eating. After all, we eat pizza fast anyways, at least most of us do.

But, eating a pizza fast with a knife and fork might be a bit of a challenge. But not for the Zarkman. Kelvin Media from the Philippines is the current record holder of the “Fastest time to eat a 12-inch pizza using a knife and a fork” and his record is 23.62 seconds.

We did an exclusive interview with him and here's his motivational message:

"There will be tough times while training, during the contest and even on the road but it’ll be worth it if you give it your 100% best every contest or food challenge!"

How difficult is it to break 32 eggs in one minute with one hand? One would reckon it’s not easy. Perhaps we could rephrase that – what skills do you need to be able to achieve this? Being a chef certainly helps. Our guy, Ross McCurdy from the USA is a chef and an owner of a breakfast restaurant. He managed to break the previous record which was just 16, so he practically doubled the result.

It takes practice, practice and practice to break this record. Ross McCurdy is, I would say, a dedicated competitor. He has broken multiple records and their scope is rather impressive. We interviewed Ross and his message to all those who would consider attempting an odd record or two is the following:

“Anyone can break a record. It takes a lot of paperwork and finding a record that fits your skills.”

This is a fun one if you like to be the main attraction of a cocktail party or...just because you feel like it. This record is set by Anatole Iwanow on February 2020. He managed to place 399 paper straws in total in his beard. Is there a place for 400, what do you think?

Unofficial sources report that this record was broken this year in March by Joel Nert. According to the video (provided here), he managed to place 509 paper straws in his beard.

You might know that spoons are used as a beauty hack for removing the dark circles under your eyes, but for Dalibor Jablanovic from Serbia, they had another purpose-to make him famous worldwide. Back in 2013, he managed to balance a 31 in total spoons on his face for one minute. Well, we guess he can proudly call himself the Spoonman.

Why would you take 43 wet sponge hits to face in 30 seconds? Well, that’s quite simple – to set a record. It might be argued that coming up with the idea of this record is the most difficult part. Really, how do you come up with such an idea?

Now that the ideas out there and there is a record, anybody who thinks they’ve got what it takes, can try to beat it. The previous record was 36 wet sponge hits to the face. The current record was set earlier this year. There are two participants, even though the one that takes hits to face is the person who is the official record holder. In our case, the name of the hero is David Rush, but who’s to say that it will not be broken again this year, by somebody else, perhaps by you?!

This is not a challenge I would recommend you try at home, if you have a garden, you might want to consider that option.

General Info and Trivia

Did you know that over 50.000 people annually have tried or applied to break a world record? Unfortunately, a vast amount of suggestions for new titles are also rejected. The main reason for this is because applications or ideas haven't been precise.  Below, we'll point out the directions to follow to get your plan rolling – if you can't measure, weigh or count it, then it's probably not a record. To make it easier on you, follow these simple steps:

Apply

Fill an application and tell in detail about the record you have in mind. Stick to the well-known rule of 5 W's - who, what, where, when and why to help the officials decide whether your move is truly worth the title of world record. If they choose to proceed with the idea, they'll send you rules and guidelines for you to follow.

Follow the rules

Let's admit; nobody's a fan of protocols. At some point, we all thought that these things go with the flow as spontaneous and fun as they look at first glance. In order to be legitimate and qualify, a record must fulfil a handful of basic requirements: it must be measurable, provable, have a single superlative, be beatable (unless it's a significant "first") and, perhaps most importantly, be exciting and engaging.

Practice makes perfect

This is the time when you have to plan the whole thing and practice, practice, practice! It's imperative to take the time factor you'll need to get this done. When you finally feel ready, make sure to capture, measure and record your effort and have at least one eyewitness statement, according to the set-out guidelines

Evidence counts

Gather all your evidence and send them to a suitable management team. They will then go through your logs and make a decision. If you're successful, you'll know about it very soon and receive a confirmation that you're among the people who are officially recorders.

Enjoy your minutes of attention

Think about it - where else would you receive global praise if your gift to the world is, let's say, to climb Mount Everest wearing a kilt? You'll have the chance to be recognised, and become a local superhero for something that would otherwise be ignored. In the end, it is essential to have fun while being in the trial-error stage. Fails are just steps closer to success, and even if you don't have a record for a win, you'll surely have a material to show off on social media, right? Keep the mood on and challenge yourself for something unusual and different!
