The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) is a regulatory body that licences, regulates, and provides guidance to individuals and businesses that offer gambling in the UK.

We recently informed of one of the latest investigations that UKGC conducted into VGC Leeds Limited. This company runs Victoria Gate Casino. The UK Gambling Commission has informed three days ago that it suspended the operating license of BGO Entertainment Limited as it carries out a review under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005.

This suspension is because there are concerns about activities that have been carried out contrary to this Act, and to the conditions of the license BGO Entertainment Limited holds. Free bets will be banned in Ireland as part of a new gambling law

Irish Times reports that free bets will be banned in Ireland, as part of the new gambling law. A new gambling regulator set should implement the laws by the beginning of next year. This regulator will also have the power to revoke or suspend gambling licenses. Also, it will be able to freeze accounts and block incoming payments to providers, which will impact the VIP treatment of some players.

Another thing that will be done in addition is a social impact fund, for the gambling companies to fund addiction treatment and other awareness measures. Gamblers will also have the possibility for self-exclusion for certain providers for a limited time.

Another area where the changes are coming is advertising where the time when gambling ads can appear on TV, radio and other media will be more controlled. Also, ads that may appeal to children will be also affected by this law.

The code will be complemented by sanctions for those who do not comply.
