Build the Bank Slot is played on a 5 reel by 5 row grid and features 3,125 paylines. The grid may be expanded to a 5 reel by 7 row grid in the Mega Pile Feature. The minimum bet amount is £0.25 while the maximum bet amount is £50.

In order to win you have to connect a minimum of 3 symbols across a payline or adjacent reels. Build the Bank Slot features an Any Adjacent Pays system which requires 3 matching symbols to be adjacent to each other on the grid. It also deviates from the standard left-to-right system as it plays both ways. The maximum win is up to 4,000x the stake.

Design, Symbols and Graphics

Something that this game doesn’t lack is beautiful graphics. The setting is a construction site. The background is completely animated and there is a flying billboard which has the slogan “Tomorrow’s bank of the future today!” You can also see a city in development further back.

In the foreground is the grid in the shape of a classic bank with a friendly robot worker there to help you build it. The music has a futuristic electro-inspired sound and is very energetic.

There are a fair few symbols. The base paying symbols are divided into low-paying symbols which are the usual card royals (A, J, Q, K) although with a futuristic face-lift. These symbols pay a fixed 0.08% for any winning combination, but they are always multiplied by a present spin multiplier.

The high-paying symbols are the shovel, gold bars, hammers and helmets which pay a fixed 0.12% for any winning combinations and, like the low-paying symbols, they are multiplied by a present spin multiplier. However, a full grid of helmet symbols will pay up to 325x the bet amount.

There’s also the Scatter Symbol which contains credit awards, multiplier symbols, special awards and a respin upgrade. 3 Scatter Symbols need to land in order to trigger the Mega Pile Feature wherein there are no base symbols, but rather it comes with its own symbols. These symbols are Cash Prize Symbols, Multiplier Symbols, Special Awards Symbols and Passive Symbols (which do nothing). 

Overall, I think that the presentation is absolutely banged on. It transports you into Crazy Tooth Studios’ vision of the future quite seamlessly.

Gameplay and Features of Build the Bank Slot

Not only does Build the Bank Slot shine presentation-wise, it also brings a lot of unique and new mechanics. There is a standard Respin Feature but where this slot is leaps and bounds ahead of some others is in its Mega Pile Feature.

Respin Feature

Let’s get this fairly standard feature out of the way first. What you need to trigger the Respin Feature is to land 3 Scatter Symbols with at least 1 displaying a respin upgrade. Once the Respin Feature is triggered you also trigger the Mega Pile Feature.

If the Respin Feature is triggered by 3 respin upgrades, then the Mega Pile Feature may go on until there are 3 consecutive rounds of only passive symbols filling the grid. When this happens you will be transported back into the base game.

Mega Pile Feature

Now we move on to the more interesting feature of this slot. The Mega Pile Feature is triggered by any 3 Scatter Symbols regardless of what they display. It plays on an expanded 5 reel 7 row grid and you have a maximum of 3 rounds if the feature is not triggered by 3 respin upgrade scatters.

The Mega Pile Feature also comes with its own special symbols. These are Cash Award Symbols which give you cash rewards. Special Awards Symbols which either generate Cash Award Symbols on the same row, column, or in adjacent positions. Multiplier Symbols boost the value of all Cash Award Symbols on the same row, column or in adjacent positions. 

Cash Prize Symbols and Multiplier Symbols then fall to the lowest possible position in order to help you build, sort of like Tetris. When the bottom 3, 4 and 5 rows are filled with either of these symbols you may win a Bank Prize. These prizes increase as you play and are reset when won. You can only win one Bank Prize per feature and they range from 25x, 250x and 2,500x your stake.

All Cash Symbols are multiplier-boosted when summed up. This multiplier is determined by one of the Scatter Symbols that triggered the Mega Pile Feature.

Build the Bank Slot is quite a unique experience and one that it took me a while to both understand and enjoy. However, once you get past the “teething period” and get to grips with its features, you may enjoy it as much as I did.

I believe that it offers veteran players a unique challenge, while newer players may need some time to adjust to its fairly new mechanics. It is a slot of the future after all.
