However, the developers at Play'n Go have decided to combine several magical worlds into one and pair them with a colourful gem theme. Sounds exciting, right? Gemix Slot Review
There is undoubtedly no shortage of colourful video slots, with many belonging to the gem genre, including the popula Sweet PowerNudge slot and the Cupcakes slot. However, with Gemix, you can look forward to vibrant visuals and an array of bonus features, including a Crystal Charge with several modifiers, a World Pattern, different World Wilds, and more, which can create an exciting and potentially even lucrative gaming experience. The Gemix slot includes a grid layout that is bigger than the standard and consists of a total of 7 rows and 7 reels. Regarding the gameplay, there are no standard paylines in this game because Gemix employs the Cluster Pays mechanic, which offers a different way of playing. Namely, a winning combination requires at least 5 matching symbols to land horizontally or vertically adjacent, i.e. in a cluster.
Moreover, an optimal betting range is also included in the Gemix slot. The options, which span between £0.10 and £100 per spin, make the game pretty inclusive and can appeal to high rollers and those who prefer smaller-stake gameplay.
Overall, the Gemix slot is full of vibrant colours, sharp visuals, and a pretty immersive atmosphere. The visuals and the backdrop will be different, depending on how far you are in the game and different worlds provide a different aesthetic. In the beginning, the reels are set against a background depicting a dark magical forest. There are glowing mushrooms around the trees and a small door on the left side of the grid.
All of the pay symbols in this game are presented as different coloured candies or gems. Starting from the low-paying ones, they are blue, light blue, purple, and green. These are followed by the high-paying symbols - orange, pink, red, and yellow. Among them, the yellow star is the most valuable symbol, worth 1,000x the stake for a cluster of 15 symbols or more.
Several special symbols are also included in the Gemix slot, such as the Falling Wild, Spreading Wild, and Sticky Wild. Each one has the typical role of substituting the regular pay symbols, but there is more to them as well. I will explain them in more detail later in this review.
Gemix is a medium-volatility game, which means that the gameplay can potentially be balanced, with relatively frequent prizes at moderate values. Moreover, the Gemix RTP of 96.83% is paired with a maximum win potential of up to 4,513x the stake!

Now that I've explained the basics let's move on to the bonus features. There are a few in the Gemix slot, so let's see what they can offer!
Each winning cluster will be removed from the grid, and fresh new symbols will drop down in the vacant positions. This may lead to new winning clusters and additional payouts.
The Crystal Charge is on the right side of the grid, and each winning symbol will be collected in it. Once charged (by collecting 20 symbols on a single spin), one of the following modifiers can be triggered randomly.
- Nova Blast - one gem explodes, destroying all adjacent symbols;
- Light Beam - one symbol sends a beam horizontally and vertically, transforming all symbols in the path into matching ones;
- Crystal Wrap - picks up one random symbol, and all of its other instances are transformed into different symbols;
- Chain Lightning - a bolt of lightning appears between two opposing corner symbols, turning all the symbols between them into one of those symbols.
Last but not least, if you collect 40 or more gems, you will receive an x3 multiplier for the next spin.
World Pattern Feature
Each level in the Gemix slot has a specific pattern, shown on the right, that needs to be completed by forming clusters over those positions. Once a pattern has been completed, you move on to the next level with a new pattern. There are three levels in a single world; once you complete them, you can continue to a new world with new visuals.
Each world has a special wild attached, and these are triggered randomly on any non-winning spin:
- World One - up to 10 lantern wilds are added to the grid;
- World Two - the lollipop wild will spread across the screen;
- World Three - up to 8 spellbook sticky wilds can be added to the grid, and these will remain in place as long as cascades occur.
Other Play'n Go Slots
Play'n Go is undoubtedly one of the most prominent and influential providers in the industry, known for its incredible high-quality games, branded releases, and more. You can check out a great portion of its portfolio here on SlotsWise, including the Canine Carnage slot, the NSYNC Pop slot, and the Fortune Rewind slot.
All in all, I found the Gemix slot to be incredibly fun and immersive. Moreover, the visuals offer fantastic atmospheres, and there are several bonus features and modifiers to spice things up and keep things interesting. Gemix can be a great choice for all players, as it combines medium volatility with a good maximum win potential and an RTP value well above the industry average.
