In order to win, you must connect at least 3 matching symbols across a payline, starting with the leftmost reel. The maximum payout may reach up to 10,000x the stake.

The Gem Rush slot plays on an Avalanche system. This means that whenever a winning combination is formed, the pay symbols are replaced with other pay symbols. 

The game also has a Dynamic Ways feature, a Gem Crusher feature and a Free Spins feature. I will give more details about each in the gameplay section below.

Design, Symbols, and Graphics

In terms of design, the Gem Rush slot is nothing new. It is a mining-themed slot but has a very colourful and interesting presentation. The grid is placed in a mine entrance, and the gem crusher is next to the grid. The music features a twangy guitar that has become a fixture in mining slots.

There are 16 pay symbols in the Gem Rush slot, and they are divided into low-pay, medium-pay, and high-pay symbols. The low-pay symbols are the standard card royals (J, Q, K, A), and they pay up to a maximum of 0.40x the stake.

Gameplay and Features of Gem Rush Slot

The Gem Rush slot has the already mentioned Avalanche feature, as well as a Free Spins feature, Dynamic Ways feature, and Gem Crusher feature. I will give more details about each feature here.

Avalanche Feature

When a winning combination is formed, the winning symbols explode. Their places are filled with new pay symbols, which can form another win. This feature ends after there are no more possible wins. The winnings are added at the end of the round.

Dynamic Ways Feature

At the start of each round, 15 blocker symbols will be under the pay symbols. Triggering a Dynamite Power-up in the Gem Crusher will remove 5 blockers and increase the number of paylines. The amount of current paylines is displayed next to the grid and can reach a maximum of 16,807 paylines.

Gem Crusher Feature

Next to the grid stands the Gem Crusher. In each round, 3 symbols appear above the crusher. Each win drops one symbol into the crusher to activate its power-up should it have one. 

There are a total of 7 power-ups: 

• Multiplier Increase – progresses the win multiplier from 1x to 5x;
• Wild Conversion – converts a random pay symbol into a Wild in all the positions it has appeared;
• Gem Conversion – converts a random low-pay or medium-pay symbol into a gem;
• Random Wilds – adds 3-7 Wilds in random positions on the grid;
• Column Wilds –  turns all symbols on a reel Wild except for bonus symbols; 
• Dynamite – removes 5 blocker symbols and replaces them with pay symbols; this also increases the number of paylines;
• Extra Spin – it can only be activated during free spins and awards an additional spin.

Free Spins Feature

You need to land 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Scatters to be granted 5, 7, or 10 free spins, respectively. Free Spins play out on a grid without blockers and on the maximum 16,807 paylines. You may be awarded an extra spin if the Gem Crusher consumes an Extra Spins Power-up. Multiplier Progress and Gem Crusher progress do not reset during the feature.
